The anticipated “Transformers” spinoff movie starring the fans’ favorite yellow Camaro Bumblebee has been set for a December 2018 release.

According to Movie Fone, Paramount Pictures set the premiere date on December 22, 2018. This is a rescheduling from the previously announced June release for next year as well.

The movie will be helmed by director Travis Knight and joined by World Wrestling Entertainment star John Cena. Other cast members include Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow and Grace Dzienny.

The movie will center on Bumblebee and his discovery by an 18-year-old girl. On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

The “Transformers” movie franchise is venturing out to create its own cinematic universe similar to what Marvel has done. The “Bumblebee” movie spinoff is pegged to be the first of many to come. Alfred Bayle/JB
