One of the most attention grabbing scenes in the first “Thor: Ragnarok” trailer was when the titular character met “The Hulk” in the gladiator-like arena and exclaimed: “We know each other, he’s a friend from work!”
The line proved to be quite the comedic gold among viewers but in reality, the witty quip actually came from a young kid who had been visiting the set during the shoot.
An interview conducted by Entertainment Weekly during San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend revealed that Chris Hemsworth’s improvised line was inspired by a kid from the “Make-A-Wish Foundation”.
The 33-year-old Australian actor had been talking with the child in between takes and at one point the kid suggested the line.
“We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid on set that day. In between the takes I was talking with him, kind-of going back and forth,” said Hemsworth. “And he goes, ‘You know, you should say, he’s a friend from work!’ So that young man actually came up with it,” he revealed.
Furthermore, Hemsworth adds that roughly 95 percent of the dialogue in the film was improvised and was something that director Taika Waititi encouraged.
Meanwhile, the chiseled actor is apparently no stranger to charity work with kids, having visited the Brisbane Children’s Hospital with co-star Tom Hiddleston last year.
