LOOK: Kendrick Lamar surprises fan with wheelchair-accessible van

After a 2006 car crash, Jennifer Phillips’ spine was left damaged, causing the lower half of her body to be paralyzed.

It still didn’t stop her from attending every single one of her favorite artist Kendrick Lamar’s concerts when he would visit Texas, where she is based. Lamar is the voice behind the hits “Humble” and “Poetic Justice”.

She’s also a huge fan of other artists under the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) label, like ScHoolboy Q and Sza, whose shows she also watches.

In 2016, the 31-year-old paraplegic started a Go Fund Me campaign to get herself a new modified van where she could fit in with her wheelchair.

Pictured is her “raggedy van” that she needed to replace:

When the Grammy award-winning rapper went to Dallas for a show on his The Damn Tour last July 14 (Central Time Zone), Phillips was sure not to miss it.

After the concert, Lamar surprised her with signed merchandise and had her read out his thank you message.

It read, “For all the years of inspiring me, the least I can do is make sure your [sic] comfortable driving the city.”

Phillips was nothing but thankful, and praised TDE’s artists in an Instagram post: “Of course they have great music but they are also great people. None of them have ever treated me like a stranger or a charity case.”

She also clarified that the attention she got was through connections rather than “being in a wheelchair.”

Her mom also broke into tears when she received the news:

“Thank God for you Kendrick and I will continue to pray for you,” says Phillips in her post, then quips: “And like I said, next time I’m driving myself to your show lol.” JB
