Sharon’s great expectations

When she saw the trailers of the other competing films at the launch of the Cinemalaya film festival last Thursday, Megastar Sharon Cuneta felt a bit daunted by the stellar lineup this year.

Competition is quite stiff, she conceded. She quipped, in jest, that her entry, Mes de Guzman’s “Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha,” might not stand a chance.

“Gina Alajar and Angel Aquino also have entries,” she gasped. “We better go home.”

But seriously now, “I am proud of our film.”

Still, inquiring minds would like to know: Is she gunning for her own Balanghai, the Cinemalaya trophy for best actress? “I would like to have an award, but I am not expecting it. I already have a few, so I’m fine…medyo I’ve already been assured that I am good!”

Suffice it to say, she gave 100 percent to her first Cinemalaya film. “It was gladly given and I am not expecting anything in return…except praise for my director’s work…and our work. That’s all.” —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
