Stunt doubles are an entire industry unto themselves because of the physical demands of action movies.
But Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron still chooses to do things herself.
“She’s in the top one percentile of actors to do their own action,” says “Atomic Blonde” director David Leitch.
In a video to promote her latest movie, Theron is seen throwing razor-sharp jabs and knocking down stunt actors with powerful kicks.

The 41-year-old actress learned different types of martial arts to pull off the intense stunts as an international spy. In a Variety interview, she admitted to sustaining injuries such as cracking her teeth, twisting her knee and bruising her ribs.
She said in an Inquirer interview that the physical challenges (“There were a lot of mornings where I couldn’t get out of my car”) only made her mentally stronger.
The movie is set to premiere in Asia, particularly Singapore and Hong Kong, on July 27. In the Philippines, “Atomic Blonde” will be opening on July 26. Niña V. Guno/ra
