Nostalgic Pokémon fans better brace themselves, as this news may prove to be a tearjerker.
Aside from the Pokémon lore’s popularity in the gaming world, characters from its manga and anime version have certainly left a lasting memory for its millions of viewers across the globe.
The series’ lead, Ash Ketchum, has been a staple in each season, but his original travel companions—gym leaders Brock and Misty—have also been well received by fans.
However, the two focal characters are noticeably omitted in the upcoming Pokémon movie entitled “I Choose You.”
The rebooted film, as per Game Rant, is supposed to retell Ketchum’s adventures in the Indigo League, which served as the starting point for the entire animated saga.
But instead of featuring the spiky-haired breeder and the feisty water Pokémon expert, a pair of children known as Makoto and Souji were shown as Ash’s new comrades.
As anticipated, dedicated fans were not pleased by the replacements and took their grievances on Twitter.
I think I dont care for the Pokemon anime anymore. The 20th anniversary movie writes out Misty and Brock, replacing them with 2 random kids.
