WATCH: Pokémon remakes 1st ever animated episode ‘I Choose You’

The 20th official Pokémon movie will be bringing nostalgia to an all-time high.

Based on the globally renowned Pocket Monsters franchise, the studio is bringing back a remake of the first-ever animated Pokémon narrative entitled “I Choose You,” Rocket News reported.

As seen in a 1-minute-and-23-second trailer released by the Pokémon Company on YouTube, the preview delves into protagonist Ash’s (Satoshi in the Japanese version) first-ever encounter with his beloved pal Pikachu.

Since the original clip first came out in 1997, the new generation of Pokémon fans have always seen the inseparable duo as one cohesive unit.

Hence, the upcoming film will showcase the pair’s humble beginnings, which grew into the strong ties they have now.

Aside from Ash’s early adventures with Pikachu, the film also re-creates the protagonist’s early encounter with the legendary Pokémon Ho-oh.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear if the movie will somehow align with the current Pokémon TV episodes, particularly The Sun and Moon series.

It’s unclear how closely the events of the “I Choose You” movie will align with those of the Pokémon TV episodes with which its story overlaps.

“Pokemon the Movie 20 – I Choose You” will debut in Japanese theaters on July 15.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
