At 49, Canadian superstar Céline Dion stripped down for Vogue magazine.

The photo, posted on the magazine’s Instagram, was taken as Dion changed wardrobe between shows. The singer sits while crossing her toned arms and legs—she is in good shape as she performs shows most nights in a week—while one of her knee-high golden boots lay on the floor.

The photo’s caption describes Dion’s commitment to fashion, or rather, its commitment to her:

FEATURED STORIES

“For the past five years she has worn haute couture near exclusively for her own performances (in Las Vegas and on her current “mini-tour” of Europe). She performs a minimum two hours a night, five or six nights a week, dancing and curtseying and generally gesticulating sans abandon, in handmade, hand-beaded delicacies designed solely to walk a catwalk or a carpet.”

Shoes—always heels, never platforms—are ordered one size smaller (she is normally a 38) and refitted with metal shanks. Says Celine, “We have to make haute couture industrial.”

And, more enigmatically: “The clothes follow me; I do not follow the clothes.”

The feature also describes how her positivity extends to the fashion world. Another post shares how she is the only person who screams and claps during a fashion show, which is known to be sober, unsmiling events.

To stay on top of her fashion game, she even Googled 20-year-old Disney star Zendaya and copped her stylist. And though she loves her couture, she also knows better than to make it consume her. “Fashion, fame, celebrity…all of this, it’s just for fun. It doesn’t mean anything.”

Probably the most baring revelations about Dion were how she copes with her husband, René Angélil’s death last January 2016 from cancer.

“When he passed, she turned to the Disney film ‘Up’ to make sense for them of a truly devastating situation. She explained that their house would stay on earth while their father went ‘up’ with his loving home metaphorically protecting him,” writes Vogue.

After she found one of her six-year-old twins talking to his father’s picture, each night since “before bedtime, she and the twins take time to speak to Rene and send kisses heavenward.” Niña V. Guno/JB
