Ed Sheeran has deserted his Twitter account due to arrogant comments from trolls.
“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it,” the British crooner told The Sun. “I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that.”
“One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it. The head-f**k for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much,” Sheeran added.
According to him, an infantry of Lady Gaga’s supporters, branded as “Little Monsters,” was also responsible for the online vitriol aimed at Sheeran. “Lady Gaga’s fanbase read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f**king hate. And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all,” he told the tabloid.
Although his Twitter page is still active as of this writing, Sheeran might have yielded the obligation to his management team so they can tweet on his behalf.
After the news broke out, Lady Gaga appealed to her followers to show respect for Sheeran and other people.
“Ed Sheeran deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and a part of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean,” the pop star preached to her fans. “Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity.”
Following the success of his third studio album “Divide,” Sheeran will go on a tour across Asian countries. The Manila leg is on Nov. 7 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
