Erich Gonzales has reacted to a young fan who had asked her for a coffee date through a billboard installed on Morayta street in Manila.
A billboard created by Xian Gaza, a Hong Kong-based businessman and single father, has buzzed online over the past few days. The billboard was emblazoned with the words, “I can’t even espresso how much I like you a latte. Will you drink coffee with me?”
The gimmick elicited mixed reactions from netizens, with some singling him out for his “creepy” invitation and some others lauding him for his courageous effort in asking her out.
In a text message to showbiz host-writer Darla Sauler, the actress, who is on vacation, replied,”Hi, Darls! How are you? Hahaha! Ang cute ng effort ni Kuya (His effort is cute). It’s fine. Let’s see when I get back. There’s nothing wrong naman if we talk over coffee, pero dapat kasama ka (but you should accompany me). Hahaha!”
On his social media accounts on Monday, Gaza recalled that he fell in love at first sight with Gonzales, whom he met during a screening of “Assassin’s Creed” at Bonifacio Global City last January.
“After the movie, I mustered all courage I had up my sleeve in order to approach you and took this very selfie so that I may remember that magical moment. You, being kind, happily obliged. At that moment, you had left a massive imprint on my heart. You left me mesmerized,” he said.
Despite both flak and praise, Gaza echoed that he only wanted to ask Gonzales out. “All I want is to be genuinely happy in life and Erich Gonzales is what my heart truly desires,” he captioned his recent Instagram post.
