After over a year of being married, Hayley Williams and Chad Gilbert have officially separated.
In a joint statement, Paramore vocalist Williams, 28, and New Found Glory guitarist Gilbert, 36, wanted to avoid “publicity crap” and explained that their relationship had “a lot of goodness and a lot of challenges.”
“Marriage is not for the faint of heart. Love is an absolute risk,” the pair wrote. However, their ending wasn’t “what we’d originally hoped for.”
Stating that this would be their only public announcement on the split, they said that they are still “close friends who are good in each other’s eyes.”
They also related that “the personal aspects of what we are going through are not for anyone else to carry…To allow people any further into this moment in our lives would be to dishonor our history together and our ability to move forward with integrity.”

The pair are reported to have been in a relationship since 2008. Gilbert proposed to Williams on Christmas of 2014, and the couple were wed last February 2016. JB
