Lorde of the (onion) rings
Call her the “Lorde of the Rings”—onion rings, that is.
The 20-year-old music artist, as it turns out, is quite a fan of those greasy fritters, and had been rating just about every type she had sampled during her travels over the past few years. The reviews were uploaded on a secret Instagram account, @onionringsworlwide, which had only 24 followers before it was recently taken down.
After much sleuthing, enterprising fans busted Lorde’s amusing past time: They took note of the different places Lorde had visited and scrutinized the appearance of the hand shown on the posts. From there, netizens were able to connect the dots.
In a recent appearance in “The Tonight Show,” the New Zealand pop star, who’s currently promoting her sophomore album, “Melodrama,” came clean: “It’s me, it’s me,” she relented, after being prodded by host Jimmy Fallon.
“Here’s the thing: I naïvely didn’t realize it would be, like, a thing—that I was going places and trying the onion rings at each of them,” she explained. “Now that everyone knows about it, people will be throwing onion rings at me on tour.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
