CBS has finally unveiled an official premiere date for its highly-anticipated “Star Trek: Discovery” series, following a troubled production process which led to several delays, reports Variety.
Originally scheduled to begin airing in January 2017, “Star Trek: Discovery” will now bow on September 24, with the first season to be split into two parts. The first eight episodes will run through November, while the remaining seven episodes are slated to air early 2018.
The series — the latest instalment in a string of “Star Trek” franchise imaginings — will begin streaming on Sunday at 8:30pm/7:30c on CBS through All Access, with the first batch ending on November 5. The season will then resume in January 2018.
While plot details for the show have been kept under wraps, Sonequa Martin-Green leads the cast as Lt. Commander Michael Burnham, with the show also starring Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp, among others. JB
