Since the official announcement that she will be playing “Darna”, all eyes have been at Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano. Much to everybody’s delight that she will be the new Pinay super heroine, people tend to see her now as “Darna” instead of simply being Liza.
In a recent interview posted by Instagram fan page @tataklizquenofficial, the young actress shared how happy she is with the overwhelming support of the people. Although her proclamation was made weeks ago, it was at yesterday’s episode of ASAP that she was officially launched on live TV as “Darna”.
“First time ko nga po lumabas ulit sa TV since nag-announce po na mag-da-Darna ako, actually ‘di naman first time kasi nag-MMK but on live television. Super ano pa sila may aftershock pa na ako ‘yung mag-da-Darna. I was really overwhelmed with all the greetings that I got earlier, lahat ng tao ang tawag na sa’kin Darna hindi na Liza” she said.
(It’s my first time to appear on TV since the official announcement that I will be Darna. Actually, it’s technically not the first time because of my MMK appearance. But it’s my first on live TV, after the official announcement. It’s as if people were still feeling aftershocks from the announcement that I will be Darna… Now, almost everyone calls me Darna instead of Liza.)
Despite gaining widespread public approval, the beautiful young actress still feels pressured to play the iconic heroine. However, her fear does not hinder her from believing she’ll do just fine.
“You know that everyone’s watching you, so medyo kabado ako (I’m a bit nervous) on my part but I’m also confident that I will be able to succeed as a good role model to the younger generation,” she said in continuation of her interview via another video post by @tataklizquenofficial
Soberano’s official launching in ASAP as the new Darna was done through a powerhouse dance performance.
In her post-performance interview, the new “Darna” shared the preparations she does for the role: “Ang training na ginagawa ko so far, nag-li-lift po ako ng weights para mag-gain ng muscle para maging malakas, also nag-ru-run po ako.”
(The training I do involves lifting weights so I could gain muscles and be strong. I also run.)
The 19-year-old Soberano is among today’s most sought-after young actresses. She has been labeled an “it” girl together with fellow Kapamilya actresses Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Barretto and Janella Salvador. Her on-screen partnership with actor-dancer Enrique Gil is also one of the network’s most successful team-ups. JB
