“Linda and Monica” will focus on the strange relationship between Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, central figures in the scandal that shook Bill Clinton’s presidency in the 1990s, reports Deadline.
Also the subject of the fourth season of “American Crime Story”, Ryan Murphy’s anthology series on FX, the Monica Lewinsky affair will be the focus of an upcoming film from Amazon Studios. The movie, which doesn’t yet have actors or a director, is based on a script by Flint Wainess from the 2016 Black List, an annual list of the hottest scripts yet to be snapped by studios.
In the 1990s, White House intern Monica Lewinsky rose to global prominence when news broke of her intimate relations with United States President, Bill Clinton. Her confidante, friend and colleague Linda Tripp, who worked with Lewinsky in the Pentagon public affairs office, secretly recorded her phone conversations with the young intern. The recordings, which included details of her relations with the president, were later leaked to a prosecutor. It was also Linda Tripp who told authorities about the blue dress stained with the president’s semen.
Flint Wainess partially based the screenplay on the phone conversations between the two women. As yet, there’s no word on which actresses could take the two lead roles. JB
