LOOK: Liza Soberano prepares for her big break as ‘Darna’

Just days after she got anointed as the next Darna, Liza Soberano kicked off her strenuous training in preparation for the forthcoming movie.

Her celebrity fitness trainer, Bok Santos, documented, through his Instagram account, his first days with the teen actress as she exerted strength and dexterity through push-ups and morning jogs.

On Tuesday, Soberano pledged to bring Mars Ravelo’s character to life for Star Cinema’s film. “Yes, it is confirmed. Tinatanggap ko na ang role na Darna (I am accepting the role of Darna),” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

“Darna,” which will be directed by Erik Matti, is yet to announce a screening date this year. Angel Locsin, who donned the red-and-golden suit in 2005 for the GMA 7 series “Darna,” was first asked to reprise her role. However, she declined due to a back injury.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
