Erlich Bachman, the wise-cracking, pot-smoking incubator owner brought to life by actor T.J. Miller, has certainly been responsible for some of the most comical banter in HBO’s critically acclaimed technology-themed comedy series Silicon Valley.
But sadly, he will no longer be around for the show’s recently confirmed fifth season.
“The producers of ‘Silicon Valley’ and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season 5,” HBO said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”
Miller has been one of the stars of the show since its debut season in 2014, and has endeared fans for his extremely outlandish portrayal of the character.
As of this writing, both HBO and Miller have been mum about the reason behind the split, but the news outlet pointed out a possible conflict in schedule, since Miller has recently been getting bigger roles in Hollywood.
It will also be quite interesting to know how “Silicon Valley” writers will address T.J.’s departure, particularly if this would neccessitate the removal of the Bachman character from the story line. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
