Liza Soberano to play Pia Wurtzbach in ‘MMK’

Liza Soberano will play the role of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach in a special episode of ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).”
Soberano’s handler, Ogie Diaz, confirmed to ABS-CBN that the teen actress, who is revered by fans for her being a beauty queen material herself, will re-enact the German-Filipino beauty queen’s life on the small screen.
“She’s taping for ‘MMK’ as the young Pia Wurtzbach. Bumangka sila sa story talaga noong wala pa siya sa pageant-pageant, so story ng family (They are focusing on Wurtzbach’s story before she joined beauty pageants),” Diaz said.
Actress-singer Zsa-Zsa Padilla also confirmed that she will star alongside Soberano in the said episode. “My first time to act with this pretty lady! I must admit, it was hard focusing on my lines while looking at her beautiful face. Who knew such beauty could be distracting?” Padilla gushed in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

Soberano and Wurtzbach, 27, have similarities aside from their pretty faces and having one foreign parent. Both anchored their showbiz careers as teen stars on television network ABS-CBN.

During a live question-and-answer portion with netizens last year, Wurtzbach admitted that Soberano got what it takes to follow her footsteps and win the international pageant. “I can think of a lot. But if I had to pick one…Liza Soberano. She’s beautiful,” she tweeted in response to a fan’s query.
