Grant Gustin may have broken a few fangirl hearts last April 30, when he proposed to non-showbiz girlfriend LA Thoma.
While the engagement was met with joy for the couple, this sparked curiosity on his fiancée. People began speculating about her ethnicity, trying to identify if she was Asian-American.
After she posted a family photo, some asked if she was Filipino or Indonesian.
The guesses are close: Thoma hails from Sabah, Malaysia. In another family photo, she uses the hashtags #kadazan, #sabah and #borneo.
She takes this ethnicity from her mom’s side, and is proud of it. The Kadazan are an ethnic group from Sabah, and in a photo, she wears their tribal clothing along with family members:
Following their engagment, Sabahans have congratulated Grant Gustin for being with the Malaysian beauty.
I can’t believe this boy is signing up to let me eat his face for the rest of our lives❤️❤️❤️

They have even started requesting that they visit her hometown:
Maybe they can drop by the Philippines too. JB
