Fil-Am ‘Miss Saigon’ actress Eva Noblezada earns Tony nod

A Filipino-American theater actress has received a Best Actress nomination at the prestigious Tony Awards for her performance in the West End production of “Miss Saigon.”

Eva Noblezada, 21, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her role as Kim in the Broadway revival of Miss Saigon, which also received a nomination for Best Revival of a Musical.

She will be competing against previous Tony winners Christine Ebersole (“War Paint”), Patti LuPone (“War Paint”) and Bette Midler (“Hello, Dolly!”), and fellow newcomer Denée Benton (“Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812”).

Noblezada previously played the role of Eponine in the London version of “Les Miserables.”

The Tonys or the Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway is considered as the Oscars of Brodway plays and musicals. IDL
