After an achy split with her live-in partner, Alyssa Quijano, Charice Pempengco will fly to Japan for a movie project.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Charice’s mother, Raquel Pempengco, said the 24-year-old singer is working on a movie despite her career hiatus.
“Sabi niya sa Japan daw muna siya mag-stay kasi may movie na ginagawa at siya ‘ata ang kakanta ng theme song (She said she will stay in Japan because she’s doing a movie wherein she will record the theme song),” Pempengco said. Images posted on Charice’s fan page last February showed Charice shooting several scenes for the said movie in Tokyo.
Earlier, Pempengco defended her daughter from social media haters who called Charice “laos“ (has-been), “purdoy“ (poor) and “nakikitira“ (living in another’s house), and requested them to show respect and admiration for Charice’s international legacy.
The news of Charice’s breakup with Quijano was first reported by Pilipino Star Ngayon, which stated that Quijano was sighted leaving Pempengco’s residence carrying packed bags.
Charice aborted her March 24 show entitled “Charice: End of Chapter Rock Concert,” which would have been her bittersweet swan song. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
