It was such a delight to finally meet actor Christian Bables. We clicked instantly. The new show biz sensation could hardly believe all the good breaks he was getting after his award-winning portrayal in “Die Beautiful.”

The film’s sequel, “Born Beautiful” will be his launching movie as a lead star since it is the backstory of his character Barbs.

Christian is also ecstatic about being part of “I Finally Found Someone,” the screen reunion of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. Everybody’s faith in Christian just keeps on growing.

Here’s my chat with Christian:

Tell us what you felt when you visited your die-hard fan, who’s in a coma. It was heartbreaking. She was so excited to meet me but, unfortunately, the day before I got to Cebu, she figured in a motorcycle accident. I never knew I had a die-hard fan.
Even before “Die Beautiful,” her mom told me that Mary Chu was already my avid supporter. I regret not being able to thank her. I pray she would wake up from her coma, so we could start our friendship.

How are you preparing for “Born Beautiful?” I’m nervous and excited in equal parts. I will challenge myself to exceed what is expected of me. I will immerse myself even more in the vibrant world of gays.

How do you feel when people think you’re gay? It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m even flattered, because it means my portrayal in “Die Beautiful” was that convincing.

What’s the tough part of handling your newfound fame? I dreamed of this day for so long, that’s why I have no complaints. I guess it’s just lack of sleep and the frenzied schedule that I’m still adjusting to. But I refuse to let fame affect me to the point that I’d have to change the way I live.

What advice did John Lloyd give you about the biz? Not to let all the adulation and overwhelming opportunities make me lose focus.

What was it like working with Chito Roño? His belief in me made me believe in myself more. I don’t agree with what others say that he’s a “terror” director. He’s just obsessive-compulsive. Working with him made me dig deeper into my reservoir of emotions.

Would you rather be a Kapuso, Kapatid, Kapamilya or a freelancer? I’m a freelancer for now. I will go where I can grow more as an actor, but I don’t want to burn bridges.

What kind of girl would make you want to fall in love again? Someone who’s understanding, secure in herself and has a mature outlook in life.

Globe Studios, the original content production arm of Globe Telecom, awarded bright Filipino talents at its Globe Independent Film Festival.

The festival had over 200 entries in six major categories: documentary, experimental, animation, webisodes, narrative and music video.
