Indian fans of Katy Perry have “roared” in protest over the pop star’s Instagram post of a Hindu goddess.

On Thursday, Perry posted an image of Kali, a Hindu deity of death and motherly love, and captioned it with “current mood.” However, some of her Indian fans felt “displeased” and swirled around her post with furious reactions.

“Expressing your mood by posting a pic of any religious god is wrong,” one user commented. Some Instagram users countered bashers by saying that Perry has always been inquisitive about Indian culture and Hinduism.

“I really appreciate your interest regarding Hindu religion. Loads of love from India,” one fan said.

Perry, 32, has admired several Hindu customs in the past. She married now ex-husband Russell Brand in Rajasthan, India, back in 2010 and even had a Sanskrit tattoo “Anuugacchati Pravaha” (Go with the flow) inked on her body, The Indian Express reported.

She also opened up about her Christian upbringings in an interview with Vogue for their May 2017 issue. “My house was church on Sunday morning, church on Sunday night, church on Wednesday evening; you don’t celebrate Halloween; Jesus gives you your Christmas presents; we watch Bill O’Reilly on TV,” she explained. “That was my whole childhood and youth and early teens. I still have conditioned layers dropping off of me by the day.”

Last February, Perry released her newest pop hit, “Chained to the Rhythm,” which she co-wrote with Australian singer-songwriter Sia.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
