John Mayer reveals new single is about ex Katy Perry

John Mayer still thinks of his ex, pop star Katy Perry, and even dedicated his newest single to his past relationship with her.
In an interview with New York Times, the rock star said that his newest single, “Still Feel Like Your Man,” is about his ended romance with Perry, whom he dated on and off for a year and a half until 2014.
“Who else would I be thinking about?” he told the news outlet. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
The lyrics of “Still Feel Like Your Man” articulate Mayer’s hammering thoughts after his split with Perry. “Still like the letters in your name and how they feel, babe / Still think I’m never gonna find another you / Still like to leave the party early and go home, babe / And don’t you know, babe / I’d rather sit here on my own and be alone, babe.”
Mayer, 39, exhibited strong emotions while he was recording the songs that defined his past relationships. “There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, ‘Okay John, this is not about an on again, off again relationship’. This is something more profound,” he said.

Despite enduring a tragic breakup with Perry and even with former flame Taylor Swift, Mayer is optimistic that he will find “the one” and settle down soon. “I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th,” he chuckled. “I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”
Mayer’s new track is part of his upcoming album “The Search for Everything,” which mostly contains breakup and heartbreak songs like “Moving on and Getting over” and “Changing.”
