During the AnimeJapan 2017 convention, an “Animation Film Godzilla Special Stage” event was conducted to shed some more light on the upcoming feature film.
During this event, it was announced that the film “Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei (Godzilla: Monster Planet)” will in fact be a trilogy, reports Anime News Network.
The cast for the film was also named, with Mamoru Miyano (“Death Note”, “Steins;Gate”, “Mobile Suit Gundam 00”) playing the lead role of Haruo Sakaki.
The story is post-apocalyptic, where humans escape planet Earth which has already been taken over by giant creatures known as “Kaiju” and Godzilla. After their failed attempt to start anew at a distant planet, humanity returns to Earth after 20,000 years, with a vow to reclaim their homeland. However, they discover that the Earth is no longer the planet they once knew and is now ruled by Godzilla.
Screening for the first film will be on November in Japan. Afterwards, it will be streamed globally through Netflix. Alfred Bayle/JB
