A remake of the classic horror movie “The Fly” could soon be on its way, reports Deadline.
J.D. Dillard, whose directorial movie debut “Sleight” was shown with great success at Sundance last year, is in negotiations to direct and co-write a remake of the classic movie, which tells the story of a scientist who mutates into a grotesque human fly after one of his experiments went wrong.
The new movie would be a remake of David Cronenberg’s 1986 film, which starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis, and is considered by some to be one of the director’s best pieces of work.
Cronenberg’s version was also a remake of the 1958 original, produced and directed by Kurt Neumann and based on a short story by George Langelaan, which was followed by two sequels, “Return of the Fly” and “Curse of the Fly”. JB
