The romantic thriller “Fifty Shades Darker” has received an R-18 rating from the Movie & Television Rating and Classification Board (MTRCB), United International Pictures said on Wednesday.

In a statement by United International Pictures, MTRCB justified its R-18 classification due to the film’s “prolonged and realistic depiction of sexual activity and aberrational sexual behavior; scenes involving bondage and dominance, sadism and masochism; nudity (breast, butt and pubic hair exposure) and strong and/or sexual language.”

The sequel to “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Fifty Shades Darker” was approved in its original US version. Moviegoers will be able to watch the film without cuts, blurs and blacked-out parts, unlike when the first movie was shown in the country.

“Fifty Shades Darker” will be in theaters in the Philippines on February 8.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades Darker,” the second chapter based on the international bestseller “Fifty Shades” trilogy.

The sequel expands upon events set in motion in 2015’s blockbuster film that grossed more than $560 million globally. CDG
