Zanjoe Marudo is looking for a date to the concert of British rock band Coldplay in April.

The star of “My Dear Heart” said he bought two tickets to the show in November, even though he still didn’t know whom to give the other one to. “I’m hoping to meet her in time for the concert,” said Zanjoe, who has been single since he and Bea Alonzo broke up in January 2016.

Bea, on the other hand, started going out with “How to be Yours” costar Gerald Anderson in October.

Zanjoe pointed out that “it’s also possible I’d end up going with a guy friend to the concert. I will not force it. I actually enjoy being single. I don’t date, but I don’t feel lonely. The idea that I’ll finally meet her soon excites me. I know it’ll happen this year.”

Asked whether or not he was open to dating a girl outside show business, the 34-year-old actor said: “I don’t see that happening soon. I hardly have time to socialize outside work. I’m always at the studio or on location. I already know the kind of girl

I want. I have to feel that connection and the magic. It’s hard to explain through words. I’ll know it’s her when I start acting like a lovestruck high schooler.”

As to the brewing romance between Bea and Gerald, Zanjoe said he was glad to see the actress looking so happy. “That’s what we want for each other. I’m sure she wishes the same thing for me. We’ve remained good friends.”

In “My Dear Heart,” Zanjoe will be paired with Bela Padilla, whom he described as someone “passionate about her craft.” He added: “Our characters start as best friends. Love eventually develops between them, that’s why they have a good relationship.”

Difficult scenes

Zanjoe recalled the first time he worked with Bela. “I felt uncomfortable on the set, but I eventually got the hang of it. I like seeing Bela prepare for work, especially when we have to shoot difficult scenes. She does her homework.”

Just like in his 2015 drama series, “Dream Dad,” Zanjoe is working closely with a child actor, this time, with 3-year-old Nayomi Ramos. “She won my heart right away. She’s very sweet,” observed Zanjoe.

While he agreed that working with children was a preparation of some sort for family life, Zanjoe admitted he was still emotionally unprepared to have his own kid. “The right time for that will come eventually. I don’t think that’s possible at the moment. I cannot make a kid on my own,” he said, laughing.
