McNeal “Mak Mak” Briguela, also known as Awra, charmed everyone at ABS-CBN’s “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” as he impersonated Mommy Dionesia Pacquiao, the mother of boxing champ Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
In an episode aired on Saturday, the breakthrough child comedian sang Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” while mimicking Pacquiao’s voice and charisma. Awra even overwhelmed judges Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, and Ogie Alcasid by thrilling the stage with a ballroom number ala-Dionesia.
The judge trio was impressed with Awra’s comic antics and creativity. “Grabe, kuhang-kuha mo siya (You really captured her),” Cuneta praised him.”Kung entertainment value ang pag-uusapan, 150 percent (In terms of entertainment value, you get 150 percent).”
Because of his performance, Briguela triumphed as the episode’s first weekly winner with a clean score of 24 points. He received a cash prize of P50,000 and another P50,000 worth of donations to his selected charity organization, Harvesters’ Foundation Inc.
Other contestants who participated in the show’s pilot episode were Alonzo Muhlach, son of former child star Niño Muhlach; host Sam Shoaf; and “The Voice Kids” champions Ella Nympha and Justin Alva.
His performance, which was uploaded on YouTube, topped the trending videos in the Philippines with 1.8 million views. Gianna Francesca Catolico
