16 quotable quotes of 2016

/ 01:07 AM December 31, 2016

As we bid 2016 goodbye, it’s throwback and “throwaway” time. Look back at the happy moments and get rid of the bad memories. Before we welcome 2017, let’s recall some celebrity quotes I shared in this column. That’s more than headlines can say to all the stars who never dilly-dallied in sharing their stories with Dollywood. And I am also grateful to my loyal readers for not editing me out of their lives. May the Year of the Rooster give us a lot to crow about.

Man is not in control of what he feels, but he is definitely the captain of what he does. Though men are polygamous by nature, it is their choice whether to give in to temptation or not.

FEATURED STORIES

Derek Ramsay

Out of respect for my leading ladies, I restrain myself so I won’t get carried away in our love scenes. I must not allow “junior” to wake up (laughs). So, basically, I concentrate, internalize, shut Derek down, and bring my character to life without going overboard.

Men with mistresses usually go back to the original, their wives, when the novelty of the affair wears off. They get bored of the mistress when she starts acting like his wife. It’s the wife who must know how to behave like a mistress to keep the marriage exciting. I don’t entertain thoughts about infidelity, because once you open that door, crazy things will happen.

The darkest point of my life was when I lost my little sister. It was absolutely heartbreaking, but I consoled myself with the thought that I gained an angel in heaven.

Jodi Sta. Maria

I would rather be single than be in the wrong relationship.

James Reid

Fame has taught me that if you want to be successful, you should not want fame. Fame must want you.

Ian Veneracion

My marriage works because my wife and I are opposites. We “live” in different worlds. Our personalities are different, too. She’s conservative, I’m liberal-minded. She’s smart, I’m wise. She loves numbers, I love stories. She’s practical,    I’m romantic. So, her strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa.

Bo Cerrudo

I hope that more Pinoys will realize that theater could be the most sensible alternative form of entertainment.

Rhian Ramos

If I had to choose between the one I love and the one who loves me, I would choose the latter. I would probably be in less pain with the one who loves me. I used to let my heart always win versus my mind, but I have wisened up.

Dennis Trillo

There’s no criteria for me to want to settle down with a girl. When the right time comes, I will know.

Tom Rodriguez

Even if I feel grateful and blessed that a lot of people love me, I must not let fame make me feel that I’m better than others.

Lovi Poe

When a relationship becomes destructive and does not allow both partners to grow, that for me is a red flag—meaning, it’s time to go.

Angelica Panganiban

I may or may not take an ex back. It depends. If there’s a spark again, why not? It’s hard to say never and past is past. As much as possible, I don’t want my relationship with them to end even if we are no longer a couple. Friends who have tampuhan can remain civil. What more with ex-lovers? I see nothing wrong with staying friends.

Bela Padilla

While you are in pain and trying to move on, discover who you really are and stop blaming your ex every day. Acknowledge the good in him or her. That will make you realize faster that there was nothing that could have been done.

The downside of being beautiful is that people think I get everything I want, but that’s not the case at all.

Janice de Belen

I have no qualms about going to Divisoria or the market. I refuse to feel like a celebrity who can’t go to certain places. When my work as an actress is done, I snap out of my show biz persona and do things ordinary people do. I enjoy going around without an alalay. I don’t understand how some celebs deprive themselves of fully living life, just because they are wary of getting mobbed. They’re missing out on a lot!
