Aiko’s life goals at age 41

Aiko Melendez partied like a rock star in The Crowd Bar as she turned 41. She has lost so much weight and is dead set on her fitness regimen.
When Aiko is in love, she tends to get fat, so being single is working wonders for her. The birthday girl is a proud “fag hag.” That’s why most of her guests were gay men. Also at the fete were Pops Fernandez, Yayo Aguila, Wendell Ramos, Vina Morales, Ogie Diaz and Aiko’s 18-year-old son, Andrei.
Unlike most teens, Andrei has no qualms about being affectionate to his mom in public. Aiko is such a doting mother. “Jackpot ako sa mga anak ko,” Aiko beamed.
She turned into a proud stage mom when Andrei sang. Then, she joined him onstage for an impromptu mini concert. Aiko and Andrei are like best buddies. It would almost make one forget that they are mother and son.
As I watched Aiko sing her heart out, I felt grateful for being part of her celebration. She’s one friend who has her own unique way of making you feel that she’s there for you even when she isn’t around. Sweetness is a gift she was born with.

Here’s my chat with Aiko:
What are your life and love goals for 2017? I will take care of my health and work out more, spend as much time as I can with my kids, improve myself in terms of how I see life.
The year 2016 was tough for me. I pray that 2017 will be kinder; no definite plans for love. I will just pray for Mr. Right to come along and let love find me.
Tell us about your coming series, “Wildflower.” I play the lead villain. It is topbilled by Maja Salvador, whom I’m excited to work with, because she’s one of the few stars in her generation who can really act.
Are you happier single or when you are in a relationship? I’m happy now, but sometimes I long to settle with someone for keeps. Long term is what I’m looking for, so I’m taking my sweet time and would like to consider not just the physical attributes this time, but someone I can learn from.
I want someone who won’t bore me and with whom I can have sensible conversations.
What was your birthday gift to yourself? Fervent prayers.
What advice did you give Andrei about love and girls? Never rush love, to take things easy and always hang out with decent people with high morals, so he can avoid problems in the future.
How are things between you and Jomari (Yllana)? We are not on speaking terms lately. He is in love, so I just let him be out of respect for his current relationship with a girl who isn’t from show biz. But he and Andrei keep in touch.
If your life story were adapted into a movie, what would the title be? I don’t think two hours is enough for my colorful life story, so a movie won’t give it justice.
