MANILA, Philippines — Actress Nadia Montenegro maintained that talent manager Annabelle Rama failed to answer allegations of child abuse against her daughters who were under Rama’s care.

In a four-page reply affidavit submitted Tuesday morning, Montenegro argued that Rama’s counteraffidavit “failed to controvert or deny” the accusations against her.

“Instead of answering the factual allegations and confronting the legal issues concerning the children’s charges of child abuse and exploitation and oral defamation, the respondent has chosen to hide behind what she believed are fatal technicalities in our complaint in a desperate attempt to shield herself from criminal culpability,” the affidavit read.

State prosecutor Leizel Aquiatan Morales set the next hearing for the preliminary investigation at the Quezon City prosecutors’ office on November 29.
