Mary the Queen of Scots’ “reign” is ending as “Reign” will be off the air after its fourth season in mid-2017.

Variety reports that the royal drama is currently shooting 16 episodes for its fourth and final season, which will premiere on Feb. 10 and is slated to show its finale in June.

“Reign” traces the epic tale of Mary Queen of Scots, played by Adelaide Kane. During the show’s past seasons, Mary tied the knot with Prince Francis of France and dealt with the heated religious divide between Catholics and Protestants. The female monarch eventually became a widow when Francis passed away due to ailments.

Kane is joined by actors Megan Follows, Torrance Coombs, Toby Regbo, Celina Sinden and Anna Popplewell. Likewise, Stephanie Sengupta and Laurie McCarthy served as the series’ producers.

The show, which commenced in 2013, was an international hit but never drew larger audiences for its American Channel CW. Leaving with “Reign” is “The Vampire Diaries,” which will wrap up its eighth and final season next year.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
