Following the momentous success of “The Jungle Book,” Disney is preoccupied with a luxurious masquerade of live-action remakes of classic children’s tales like “Mulan,” “The Lion King,” “Mary Poppins,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin.” But this newest remake project is “the fairest of them all.”

The oldie but goodie “Snow White” is getting a live-action musical courtesy of the entertainment giant.

Erin Cressida Wilson, who served as the scriptwriter of “The Girl on the Train,” is reported to pen the movie’s script, The Hollywood Reporter divulged. Marc Platt, who is also eagerly engaged in the Mary Poppins sequel, was tapped to produce the “Snow White” remake. Songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will compose original tracks for the film as well.

Further details regarding casting and target release will be announced at a later time.

“Snow White” is next in line for Disney after “Beauty and the Beast,” which stars Emma Watson and which will premiere in March 2017 while Mulan is slated for a 2018 release. Notably, John Favreau and Guy Ritchie are hands-on with the “Lion King” and “Aladdin” remakes, respectively.

The original “Snow White” animated film was released in 1937, making it the first children’s classic film by Disney. It bagged an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards in 1939. Several adaptations were produced over the years, such as the 2012 film “Mirror, Mirror” starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, and 2012 fantasy flick “Snow White and the Huntsman” with Kirsten Stewart leading the cast.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
