Broadcast giant ABS-CBN has defended producers of its primetime soap opera “Till I Met You” over allegations of “inappropriate” sexually charged scenes after being summoned by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
In a press statement dated Nov. 5, ABS-CBN said show producers wrote a letter to MTRCB informing the board of the self-regulated Strong Parental Guidance (SPG) classification of its Oct. 25 episode due to “sensitive material involved” prior to its airing.
The episode in question showed a premarital sex scene between lead characters portrayed by actors James Reid and Nadine Lustre. The MTRCB has summoned program executives for a conference on Nov. 10, citing feedback from social and conventional media.

The network said the episode was intended to “make viewers aware not only of the consequences of young and reckless love but also how impulsive acts of this kind of love occur in real life.
“There are lessons to be learned where decisions are made on impulse. We hope that the program will be appreciated in its entirety and some scenes not taken out of context.
“Rest assured that the program executives will participate in the conference requested for by the MTRCB on Nov 10.
