A movie about the adventures of tiny facial buttons living on messaging apps is actually a real thing.

On Monday, Sony announced that three notorious comedians are breathing life into teeny emoji protagonists in the film “EmojiMovie: Express Yourself.” They are “Silicon Valley” actor T.J. Miller, “The Late Night Show with James Corden” host James Corden and “Broad City” star Ilana Glazer, Deadline reported.

The film is about living and breathing emojis residing in the city of Textopolis. All of these adorable emojis are hopeful to be pressed by the phone’s user.

FEATURED STORIES

One common characteristic billions of emojis share is that they only have one emotion. But one of them was Gene (Miller), who was born without a filter. He sets out on an “app-venture” with his buddies Hi-5 (Corden), and Jailbreak (Glazer) to fix his abnormal code and become a “single-emotion” emoji. Along the way, they tour several smartphone apps and mingle with celebrity emojis, and stumble on obstructions that can fatally diminish their emoji universe.

The entertainment company previously announced plans to develop the animated film back in 2015, with Michelle Raimo Kouyate producing the movie.
