MEGAN Young
Three years after being crowned Miss World, Megan Young is bent on conquering other “worlds” by constantly reinventing herself.
She headlines the GMA 7’s “Alyas Robin Hood” (weeknights after “Encantadia”). Megan portrays the love interest of Dingdong Dantes, who plays the title role.
The beauty queen is set to show that she’s got more than just her physical attributes.
My chat with Megan:
Who’s your girl crush?
Liza Soberano! Gandang-ganda ako sa kanya. Not only because of her physical attributes, but I hear a lot of good things about her, personality-wise. I see her as a good role model to today’s youth. That, for me, is girl crush-worthy!
What do you miss about your Miss World reign?
More than the traveling and all the glitz and glam associated with the beauty pageant world, what I miss most was getting to meet people from different cultures and different walks of life.
I think everyone knows about Miss World’s main advocacy, which is “beauty with a purpose.” So, it has always been fulfilling to brainstorm with Julia Morley (Miss World founder) and her team to think of ways to help other people by way of our charity projects.
More than that, it’s also fulfilling to empower women and make them more aware of their rights.
What are your do’s and don’t’s for aspiring beauty queens during pageant night?
Just be yourself. Focus. Internalize.
What’s your dream marriage proposal?
I can’t say I’ve fantasized about that, but if that happens, maybe it would be nicer if it happens while we’re in an intimate setting with the people who matter most to us.
Did you ever go through an “ugly duckling” phase?
I don’t know if I can say “ugly duckling,” really. I was a happy and content teenager. I loved my curly hair and embraced my braces. Although I would get teased sometimes by my relatives, because I was somewhat a “Betty La Fea,” I didn’t mind.
Tell us about your role in “Alyas Robin Hood”?
I play Sarri, a young pediatrician who has a heart for children. I will fight for what my heart knows is right.
What are your thoughts on jealousy and infidelity?
A relationship is all about trust. As long as you’re honest with yourself, then you’ll never feel jealous of other people.
In some ways, infidelity is somewhat related to jealousy, because it’s basically ego-driven.
Would you allow your boyfriend to be friends with his ex?
I honestly don’t see anything wrong with that. Of course, it goes without saying that their friendship will have its limitations, right?
What’s the sweetest thing that a guy ever did for you?
Time and effort are big factors for me. One of the sweetest things a guy did for me was take my mom to the airport when she was leaving for the United States.
He made sure that my brother and sister were able to surprise her before going inside the terminal.
What’s the craziest or naughtiest thing that you’ve done?
Booking an international flight four hours before the actual flight and rushing to the airport!
