The upbeat soundtrack of DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad” debuted at the first spot on the Billboard 200 chart, with nearly 182,000 equivalent album units until Aug. 11.
This was the biggest movie soundtrack sales since the reign of “Fifty Shades of Grey” album that topped music charts in second place with 210,000 album units last February, Billboard reported.

The movie’s album, which was produced by Atlantic Records and is jam-packed with songs from Twenty One Pilots, Skrillex, Rick Ross, rappers Lil’ Wayne and Wiz Khalifa, and pop rock quintet Panic at the Disco, was the best-seller album last week and at the Top Album Sales Chart. Tracks like “Purple Lamborghini,” “Sucker for Pain,” “Heathens” and “Standing in the Rain” are just a few of the melodic tunes that lured “Suicide Squad” fans to listen to the album.
It spiked sales after rock band Blink-182’s album “California” debuted with 210,000 album units.

Despite poor reviews from movie-rating websites, “Suicide Squad” earned $58.7 million (P2.7 billion) from 15,600 screens across 62 countries. Its global gross hit $465.4 million (P21 billion), Hollywood news site Deadline reported.
