Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez will star in and produce a Home Box Office (HBO) film, which is about the life of notorious Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, popularly known as “The Cocaine Godmother.”
The upcoming film will narrate Blanco’s narcotics legacy as she managed the American drug cartel in the ’70s and ’80s. Blanco, who was known as the most powerful female drug lord in the continent, was shot dead in 2012 at age 69.
“I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years. The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life,” Lopez, 47, said in a press statement on Wednesday.
Lopez will co-produce the film through her company, Nuyorican Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Other people involved in the film’s production are Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Lopez’s manager, Benny Medina. Her company will team up with LBI Entertainment’s Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn. Besides Lopez, Alex Pettyfer will serve as co-executive producer, together with Nuyorican’s Priscilla Porianda and LBI’s Patrick Walmsley, E! Online reported.
This film is predicted to be another spectacular hit from HBO. Gianna Francesca Catolico
