Alden-Maine starrer a pleasant surprise
ELVIE Garin, teacher: “I was pleasantly surprised to find that Mike Tuviera’s ‘Imagine You & Me’ was not treated as a travelogue, with Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards doing well in their respective roles. I hope they go into serious acting soon.”
Other notes:
Lucy Abitria, televiewer: “It was a delight to see and hear Jaya sing up a storm in ‘It’s Showtime.’ Her soaring medley of hits highlighted her soulful and effortless singing. But, she should have been paired with an R&B singer like Jay R, instead of balladeer Erik Santos, whose style didn’t complement hers. Erik is a fine singer, but he’s weighed down by his ‘singing-contest’ performing style. Yeng Constantino was no better. She seemed out of place and exerted too much effort to measure up to Jaya’s performance.”
Vener Gonzaga, student: “Up-and-coming and multiawarded young actress Therese Malvar should be given meaty roles in mainstream film productions and teleseryes. She’s too good an actress to be limited to indie films.”
Irish Santillan, nurse: “‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’s’ Garrett Bolden is a breath of fresh air. His soulful performing style is a welcome diversion from birit singing. I hope he ends up in the semifinals.”
