July a big month for Alden Richards
Time flies, they say, when you’re having fun. And this old adage does seem to hold true for Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, who couldn’t quite believe that they will already be celebrating the first anniversary of their phenomenal AlDub love team on July 16.
So, despite his incredibly hectic schedule these days, Alden vowed to make time for that momentous day.
“That’s when everything started. Maine and I are very excited… Things went by very quickly, and we’ve never thought we would reach one year,” Alden told reporters at a press conference for TechnoMarine watches, one of the many endorsements he had snagged since the onset of the AlDub fever.
The immense popularity of the kalyeserye segment in the noontime variety show, “Eat Bulaga,” put their lives and careers, almost instantly, to a heck of a ride. But it hasn’t always been easy, the 24-year-old GMA 7 star admitted.
“We’ve had our fair share of criticisms—good, bad, very bad. But at the end of the day, it’s all about what Maine and I believe in, what we have, our understanding of each other,” said Alden, who plans to give “something special” to his screen partner for their anniversary.

It’s a recap of sorts of my life thus far—my childhood, family, previous projects.” Alden said. “If people want to know more about me, read the book.”
His second movie with Maine, the romantic comedy “Imagine You and Me”—parts of which were shot in Italy—is set to premiere likewise in July. “I’m excited and looking forward to it. It’s going to be one of AlDub’s highlights,” Alden said. “It’s our gift to the fans, to everyone who has been supporting us.”
Meanwhile, Alden said that being too busy and caught up in work could rob one of time for himself. “I don’t have time for myself anymore… I’m tired,” Alden jested, when asked if he could still afford to have “me time.” “But no matter how busy we are, we should always make time for the things that make us happy—time for ourselves, for our loved ones.”
Still, he remains thankful for all the blessings he continues to receive. “I thank God for everything,” he said. “I believe He rewards us for the kindness we show and give to others.”
