Attention and importance must be paid

ON “ANG Probinsyano,” a new “segment guest star” has just been introduced to further lengthen the already extended series.

She’s Angelica Panganiban, and she’s cast in a truly “troubled” role, as a young woman who has been forced to work as a “mule” for an international drug ring. She smuggles drugs inside her body, and is hugely pained and miserable all the while.

We’re hoping that, as her “chapter” unfolds, Angelica will be able to do more than look so stressed, oppressed and used!

FEATURED STORIES

On “The Voice Kids 3,” the resident juror-mentors have simmered down and are less hectic and hyper. But, the key issues persist, like too many vetted bets, already more tweens than kids and love songs on the juvenile contestants’ playlist.

These problems and distractions need to be addressed for the kiddie singing tilt to be true to its uniquely inspiring essence.

On “Magandang Buhay,” our suggestion for the morning talk-variety show to feature more than one guest and topic per day appears to have had some effect, because the program is more varied now.

Last Tuesday, June 14, for instance, it featured two separate interviews, with starlets Bryan Santos and Vin Abrenica.

Another aspect that the program can now work on improving is the relative lack of genuine creative and copacetic interaction between its three hosts.

They tend to be too spiel-bound and say pretty much the “motherhood” things. In addition, they have not yet learned to be sensitive to each other’s speaking style and tempo.

Last June 14, for instance, they sometimes talked together and had to comically “make pompyang” to get a speaking mix-up untangled. This is a basic cohosting requirement, so we hope it can be sorted out soon.

Finally, we still believe that not all three hosts need to be on-cam all the time. In particular, we feel that the program and its viewers can benefit from a separate portion to be hosted by Jolina Magdangal.

After all, she’s been a big star since her childhood, so she has a lot more to share with viewers that’s uniquely her own.

The specific nature of Jolina’s portion is for her and the production to figure out, but we feel she deserves it.

Incidentally, this is also the reason why, when Jolina competed on “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” we made it a point to “remind” the people involved in that show that she was the biggest name in its lineup of stars and starlets, so she should have been given preferential attention and showcasing.

Our point was “controversial” at first, but later on, some people in the program ended up agreeing with us—so, we hope that the same thing happens on “Magandang Buhay.”

Jolina is too humble to “push” for herself, so others will have to do the pushing and reminding—because it’s really hard to attain long-running stardom like hers—and so, attention and importance must be paid!
