What a delightful Saturday I had at the basketball-themed baby shower of ma chere amie Mic Cazzola and my migo, James Yap, at Le Jardin. Thanks to my “partner in crime” Bo Cerrudo for accompanying me.
The fete was organized by Aprica, a Japanese brand of baby goods, and documented by Nice Print. Mic is due to give birth either last week of July or first week of August. James told me that he prefers July, because August is considered the “ghost month.”
The fab couple has chosen to name their son, Michael James, or MJ for short. Michael is the male version of Mic’s full name, Michela. MJ will be the third son of James.
He relishes the thought that this time around, he can be a dad 24/7 since MJ will be living with him. His two other sons, Bimby (with Kris Aquino) and another one with an ex-girlfriend in Cebu, are under their respective moms’ custody.
The PBA superstar dreams that MJ would be an NBA cager someday, so he plans to send him to train in the United States when he’s already of age.
Spotted at the party were Ricky Lo, Julius and Tin-Tin Babao, Danica Sotto-Pingris, Cindy Patrimonio, coach Jason Webb, PBA players Mark Barroca, Joseph Yeo, Rico Maierhofer and their respective wives, Russell, Anj and Jeck.
I have never seen Mic and James happier. When James gets weary from bouncing balls in the PBA hardcourt, the sight of their bouncing baby boy will soothe him. Congrats, Mic and James! May MJ dribble more love and joy into your life.
Here’s my chat with the hot mama-to-be Mic:
Would you want Bimby and MJ to become close?
Bimby is smart, and he’s very sweet to Joshua, so of course, they can be close if they wish to do so. I like Bimby and Joshua because they’re well-mannered and nice to be with. They are and will always be welcome in our lives.
Will you breast-feed MJ?
Yes, definitely.
Would you rather have a cesarean section or a normal delivery?
I believe normal delivery is preferable.
What was the sweetest thing James did for you during your pregnancy?
Dealing with my mood swings.
Is marriage next on the agenda?
In due time. We were of course thinking of that, but the baby arrived first, so our priority is to first focus on the baby.
Marriage will come at the right time, as I told you before. We want to get married because we want to, and not because we have to.
Honestly, for us, it’s like we’re married already, especially now that we have a baby. It’s the feeling that matters.
How many kids do you and James plan to have?
We want to focus on MJ first. But we will welcome as many kids that we’ll be blessed with.
