Pia Wurtzbach condoles with LGBT, Orlando shooting victims

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has condoled with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community as 49 people were killed and 53 others were injured in a shooting rampage at Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday.

Wurtzbach, an ardent advocate of gender equality and empowerment of the global LGBT community, posted her message on social media site Instagram on Monday.

“Nobody deserves the feeling of terror. Nobody. You have my love and you are in my prayers,” Queen P said in a post on her Instagram account, where a picture of a Philippine flag and two LGBT flags were proudly waved in a sky with two vibrant rainbows during Wurtzbach’s homecoming parade earlier this year.

A portrait of the beauty queen with the two rainbows was also shared on her account.

“And if you’re wondering why I chose this photo? Because I am Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach from a highly conservative Catholic country but I am not afraid. Celebrated but also sometimes criticized. And staying true to my word, the LGBT community is close to my heart,” the 26-year-old beauty queen said.

In the same post, Wurtzbach said she was also saddened by the tragic death of “The Voice” runner-up Christina Grimmie and the recent airport blast in Shanghai, China. Gianna Francesca Catolico
