Hundreds of excited fans trooped to the electrifying Manila concert of American metalcore rock band Blessthefall on Monday at the Skydome in SM City North Edsa, organized by Pulp Live World Productions and co-presented by 28 Black and Tribal.

The funky quintet of Eric Lambert (lead guitar, backing vocals), Matt Traynor (drums, percussion), Jared Warth (co-lead vocals), Elliot Gruenberg (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and lead vocalist Beau Bokan pumped up the crowd with their all-time hits “Oathbreaker”, “Youngbloods”, “To Hell and Back”, “Gucci”, and “Promised Ones”. The Manila leg is part of their Asian Tour which includes parts of China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

This was Blessthefall’s second time in the country–they energized the hardcore crowd in the “PULP Summer Slam 12: The Apostles” on April 28, 2012. Bokan described their 2012 experience in Manila as ‘amazing’.

Before coming to the Philippines, Blessthefall wowed their audience in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and also in Tokyo, Japan. After performing in Manila, the quintet will grace their fans in Bangkok, Thailand, and Taipei, Taiwan, which is the final leg of their Asian Tour.

The band also promoted their fifth album “To Those Left Behind”, which was released in September 2015. Their 2013 album, “Hollow Bodies”, spiked at the 15th spot on the Billboard 200 and topped the Heavy Rock charts in 2013. Previous albums of the metal band include “Awakening” (2011), “Witness” (2009), and “Last Walk” (2007).

A significant number of their metalcore songs are drawn and fueled by horror movies and feelings of anguish and depression.

After 13 songs, the crowd cheered for the band to return and play their encore. As a walloping response, the four members jammed again on stage to perform the song ‘the audience wanted’ — “Hey Baby: Here’s The Song You Wanted”. To wrap up their second Philippine gig, Bokan ecstatically thanked their fans by yelling out, “Mahal kita! I love you, Philippines!” IDL
