Make way for Louise and Juancho
Make way for the Kapuso Network’s newest love team, LouCho—Louise de los Reyes and Juancho Triviño, who topbill the afternoon soap, “Magkaibang Mundo.”
It revolves around an unusual friendship between a human (Louise) and a dwarf (Juancho) that will blossom into love, a romance that seems wrong but is nonetheless real.
Here’s my chat with Louise:
Do you feel that your teamup with Juancho could evolve into something deeper?
It’s too early to answer this, but one thing is for sure, Juancho complements my character. Our differences bring us closer together.
I’m outgoing, and I like to talk to people, while Juancho is more reserved. When he talks, he makes a lot of sense—he gives good advice. We balance each other out. I guess it’s true when they say that opposites attract.

Article continues after this advertisementI’m a loving person. However, I believe that when you decide to love someone, it should involve both the head and the heart.
If the decision to love that person wouldn’t be good for the people I love or my career, I should also have the wisdom to let it go.
What’s your unsolicited advice to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on behalf of the millennials?
I hope you’ll bring true change to this country, especially in the areas of drugs, crime, corruption, poverty and traffic.
What do you find hard to understand about boys?
How hard it is for them to show their feelings. How they are afraid of rejection, so much so that even if they like the girl, sometimes they’ll go for weeks or months without talking [to her].
What’s the best love advice you’ve ever heard?
Don’t break up because of petty differences. Make sure your relationship is built on a solid foundation. Communication is key. Give each other quality time. Be aware of your nonnegotiables or relationship-breakers.
What do you hate about love?
I hate the fact that I don’t understand love. But that’s the beauty of it.
After the deaths of teens in a rave concert, what’s your advice to millennials about living life to the fullest?
You can always live life to the fullest, but always be mindful of yourself—too much of anything will kill you. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. It is better to be safe than sorry. Be wise. Choose your friends wisely.
My one-on-one with Juancho:
Is Louise girlfriend material?
Yes, because she’s very nurturing.
Are you envious of colleagues who are more popular than you?
I don’t get envious. I trust my management and GMA 7. They know what’s best for my career.
Do you believe in dwarfs (like your character, Elfino)?
There are things in this world that can’t be explained by science, which is why every time I walk on grass, I say, “Tabi-tabi po.”
What turns you on in a girl—and what turns you off?
Confidence and beauty turn me on. I like it when a woman knows how to carry herself. I love it when girls are kalog (fun) and easy to talk to. Girls with vices turn me off.
If you could be a woman for a month, who would you want to be and why?
Angelina Jolie, because even if she already has everything, she still makes it a point to help others.
What are your thoughts on gays?
I was raised not to look down on people whose preferences are different from my own.
How do you handle an indecent proposal?
I get flattered, of course—then, I laugh it off.
