MANY NEW productions are being trotted out for viewers’ consideration and hopeful delectation for the month of June—with sequels and remakes leading the way. Most imminent is the release of the latest “Ghostbusters” comedy caper, with an all-female stellar cast, for a trendy change.

The “supernatural comedy” flick casts Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as writer-researchers who team up with a nuclear engineer (Kate McKinnon) and a subway worker (Leslie Jones) to “save the world from monsters and spirits, including a demon who can exercise control over human forms.” A lot of “freaky fun” awaits viewers, and Chris

Hemsworth and Andy Garcia add to the production’s stellar appeal and clout.

Most of the movie’s players are known to be reliable comedians, so a great time should be had by all. Even better, the film introduces us to a relatively new talent, Leslie Jones, a daft discovery who looks like she’s here to stay.

Also on film fans’ “should-see” list this month is “Finding Dory,” the long-awaited sequel to “Finding Nemo,” with Ellen DeGeneres “voice-acting” the title role.

Other June releases on the big screen include “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” “Now You See Me 2,” “The Conjuring 2,” “Independence Day Resurgence”—sequels, one and all!

On the television screen, the remakes are paced by “Roots” on the History channel. Other shows or series with new season openings this month are “Cleverman,” “Marriage Boot Camp,” “Devious Maids,” “UnReal,” “Transcendent,”

“Odd Mom Out,” and “Major Crimes.” Also watch out for the 70th Tony Awards on CBS on June 12.
