‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress Sara Ramirez leaves show

Sara Ramirez, who plays Dr. Callie Torres in the popular American medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy”, has resigned for good.

The Mexican actress revealed on social media site Twitter that she will not ‘report to duty’ for the show’s thirteenth season. She was part of the mainstay cast of the hit drama for 10 seasons, according to entertainment site TV Line.

She entered the series during its second season.

In the show’s twelfth season, Torres, the head orthopedic surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, has been deliberately pondering about moving with her girlfriend, Penny (Samantha Sloyan), to New York. However, Torres’ life went on a roller coaster ride when her ex-wife Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) championed a lawsuit, gaining full custody of their daughter Sofia. In the season’s finale, Arizona changed her mind and handed two airplane tickets to Torres and a decision to share custody to Sofia. Torres then joins Penny as they move to the ‘Big Apple’.

This is the show’s third adieu after Dr. Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) left in Season 10 and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) in Season 11. Gianna Francesca Catolico
