Tom Holland’s portrayal of everyone’s favorite creepy-crawler on ‘Captain America: Civil War’ captured not just the viewers’ admiration, but apparently, he also dazzled the original Peter Parker himself, Tobey Maguire.
Through an Instagram post last week, Maguire directly tagged the young lad’s account with a short video meme, captioned as: “Haha seriously, who made this? @tomholland2013good job! You are great as Spider-Man. Keep it up!”
The comically-edited video, which featured scenes from the earlier Spiderman instalments, showed the 40-year-old watching ‘Civil War’ in awe after Tom Holland’s Spiderman entered the fray as ‘Team Ironman’s new recruit.
Maguire, who many Spiderman fans grew up with as the face behind the famed titular character, has now seen the ‘Spidey’ suit passed down to two actors and has been gracious about it both times.
He even interviewed his replacement, Andre Garfield, about taking over the first reboot in 2012.
Maguire first appeared in Spider-Man (2002), which won critical acclaim and earned $821.7 million at the box office.
The sequel Spider-Man 2 (2004) made $783.8 million, while Spider-Man 3 (2007) raked in $890.9 million. Khristian Ibarrola
