Actress Angelica Panganiban expressed support for her friend Melai Cantiveros who assailed a supporter of presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for supposedly wishing that Melas’ daughter would be raped.
In a comment on Melai’s post, Panganiban said that people should not wish others harm just because they do not support the same presidential candidate.
“Nakakaloka naman ito! Pabaliw na mga tao. Personalan na. May kanya-kanya po tayong opinyon at gustong kandidato. Hindi tama na hilingin mong may mangyaring masama sa kapwa mo tao dahil hindi kayo parehas na presidente,” Panganiban said.
(This is crazy! It’s becoming very personal. We all have our opinions and preferred candidates. It’s not right that you want something bad to happen to other people just because you have different presidential candidates.)
Panganiban, who is a vocal supporter of Duterte, said that she could not fathom why someone would wish for the rape of an innocent girl when all presidential candidates are resolved in curbing criminality in the country.
“Gusto ng bawat kandidato na matigil ang krimen. Bakit mo hihilingin yun lalo na sa batang walang kamuwang muwang,” she said.
(All the candidates want to stop crime. Why would you wish a crime to be done to an innocent child?)
Panganiban and Cantiveros are close friends ever since they first worked together in the comedy show “Banana Split.”
Panganiban was also one of the godparents of Cantiveros’ daughter Amelia Lucille.
On Sunday, Cantiveros slammed a Duterte supporter named Shawie Enriquez for saying that her daughter should be raped.

She said that she is willing to file a case against Enriquez for her rape remark.
